Once every few years, Free Comic Book Day (which happens on the first Saturday of every May) falls on STAR WARS DAY (either May the Fourth Be With You, or Revenge of the Fifth). We decided to team up with Metropolis Comics and Toys, who hosted our first booth of the year in their shop, alongside:
- Marcello Matere
- Ed Siomacco
- Cloudscape Comics
- Bbombshell Salon
- Fandom Feud
For the first time ever, we hosted our own mixed reality setup. This allowed audiences to see what the person in VR is seeing, and how they are interacting with their environment. And because it was STAR WARS weekend, might as well celebrate with Beat Saber, which hit early access on May 1st. We set up a green screen on a cross bar, with lightstands, a mirrorless camera on AC power with a super wide lens, and to power it all up, we used LIV VIVR and Client. Have a look at our setup and how it worked!
At the end of the day, @Megasteakman strutted a bit of practise on Expert! Nothing says #RevengeOfTheFifth like @BeatSaber! @LIV really helped bring things to life for new-to-VR folks too ❤️💙 pic.twitter.com/QSUf6Z9vNf

It’s been a long time since our team did demos since we’ve been throwing events with so many awesome indiedevs and studios doing the demos for us! Lots of kids were so interested in the game, and seeing how their friends are playing the game – they are easily able to pick it up just by watching! It’s amazing how mixed reality makes that difference in putting things into context.
Huge thank you to: LIV (Watt) for his support to get us going; Jonny, Ben, and Tony for hosting us at Metropolis Comics and Toys, and the biggest thank you goes to all the comic book lovers who met with us and explored VR for the first time!
